PGIMER Exam Pattern 2014 Details of Paper Pattern and Eligibility Conditions
The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh is the one of the renowned medical college inviting admission to the students who wish to take admissions in the medical courses of the institute should participate in the common entrance exam scheduled to be held on the different dates as specified for this purpose. Some of the courses offered by the institute include the following: MD/ MS, MDS, DM/ M.Ch. /MPH/ M.Sc/ MLT/ PGI Fellowships and Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) respectively.

Eligibility for Admissions:
The applicants should be having the graduation degree (MBBS/BDS) from any university/ institute recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). Apart from this, the applicant should be registered from the Central/ State Medical Registration Council. The applicants should have completed one year of rotating internship by 31st July/ 31st December for the concerned sessions –July and January respectively for this purpose.
Paper Pattern:
The entrance exam for the PGIMER DM/ M.Ch courses will be conducted in the objective modes having multiple choice questions on the following main topics:
1) General Medicine for MD (Medicine) 40 Marks
2) Pediatrics for MD (Pediatrics) 40 Marks
3) Pharmacology for MD (Pharmacology) 40 Marks
4) Pathology for MD (Pathology) 40 Marks
5) Anesthesia for MD (Anesthesia) 40 Marks
6) General Surgery for MS (Surgery) 40 Marks
7) ENT for M.Ch (Plastic Surgery) 40 Marks
8) MS Orthapaedics for M.Ch (Plastic Surgery) 40 Marks
9) Radiology for MD Radiology/ Radio Diagnosis -40 Marks
10) Speciality concerned -40 Marks and
11) Practical Examination -20 Marks

There will be two parts in the paper. The selection of candidates will be done on the basis of multiple choice based questions to be solved in the given time frame.
There will be negative marking in the exam for the wrong answers attempted by the applicants in the Part II of the concerned entrance exam. The applicants should appear and qualify in the separate theory papers as specified for this purpose in the required cut off and merit marks.
