AMU Entrance Exam 2014 Details of Eligibility, Courses & Admission Criteria
The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) conducts the common entrance exam for admitting students under different medical and engineering courses respectively through separate entrance examinations. Name of Exam: AMU Engineering Entrance Exam
Conducting University: Aligarh Muslim University
Courses of Admission: BE. (Bachelor of Engineering) and B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology)
Eligibility for Exam:
For B.Tech Course: The candidates should be Class 12th passed or any other equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% marks obtained in aggregate. The main subjects of study in the qualifying exam include the following: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and English respectively.
For B.E. Course: The candidates should have passed the Diploma in Engineering with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a college recognized by the Aligarh Muslim University for this purpose.
There will be objective type and multiple choice questions on the following main subjects: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry respectively.
Total Number of Questions: 150
Total Marks Allotted: 150
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
For every correct answer marked by the candidates they will be given 1 mark and 0.25 marks shall be deducted for every wrong answers marked by them.
There shall be reservation of 50% seats for the Muslim candidates while there will be no reservation of seats for any other category of candidates.
The candidates can apply online from the website of the Aligarh Muslim University in the manner as specified for this purpose. The applicants will have to pay Rs.500 as the application fee in the form of Demand Drafts drawn in favor of the “Finance Officer, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh” payable at Aligarh or through cash deposit at the Finance Office of the university respectively.
The candidates will be called to attend the counseling provided they qualify in the entrance exam with the required merit and cut off marks. The results of the entrance exam will be made available in the first week of July and the schedule for counseling will begin from second week of July respectively.
The candidates should bring the following documents at the time of counseling:
Letter of Counseling (Original and one copy); Demand Draft; Admit Card (Original and one copy); Educational Mark sheets and Certificates (Original and two copies); Rank Card, Certificate of Medical Fitness and Recent Passport size Photographs respectively
