AIBE Exam Pattern 2014 Details of Question Paper and Topics of Study

The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is the qualifying entrance exam conducted for the examining the ability of the applicants to practice law as a profession in India. The candidates qualifying in the concerned entrance exam will be given Certificates of Practice by the Bar Council of India (BCI) which is the benchmark of practicing law in India. The exam is held every year in the months of June/ July for all the candidates. The exam for the present session is scheduled to be held on 27th July 2014 for all the applicants interested to appear in the concerned exam.

Name of Exam: All India Bar Examination

Conducting Authority: Bar Council of India

Eligibility for Exam:

The concerned entrance exam is open for all the eligible law graduates and advocates enrolled under Section 24 of the Advocate Act 1961 for this purpose.

Paper Pattern:

The All India Bar Examination shall consist of objective type multiple choice questions on the 20 subjects as given here below. There shall be two main categories in the exam. The first category of paper shall be having questions on all the foundational subjects in law and second category shall have other subjects in law for the questions asked in the exam. The papers considered for the AIME 2014 can be studied separately for both the category of exams as follows:

Category I:

1. Evidence

2. Constitutional Law

3. Jurisprudence

4. Criminal Procedure

5. Property Law

6. Professional Ethics and Professional Code of Conduct for Advocates

7. Civil Procedure Code and Limitation Act

8. Contract Law, including Special Relief, Special Contracts and Negotiable Instruments

9. Drafting, Pleading and Conveyancing

10. Alternative Dispute Resolution and

11. Criminal Law I: The IPC (Indian Penal Code)

Category II:

1. Public International Law

2. Company Law

3. Family Law

4. Principles of Taxation Law

5. Human Rights Law

6. Administrative Law in Category II

7. Environmental Law

8. Law of Tort, including Motor Vehicle Accidents and Consumer Protection Law and

9. Labour and Industrial Law respectively

There will be 7 questions from each category I subjects and 23 questions from the Category II subjects respectively. Category I subjects shall be asked in the Part I of the paper and Category II subjects shall be asked in the Part II of the question paper respectively.
