PGI Chandigarh Entrance Exam 2014
The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research invites medical students from all over the world for admission to its different programmes usually during September/October and March/April for the January and July session respectively. The selection of applicants is made through an entrance examination conducted in the month of December for the January session and in the June for the July session. Therefore, students seeking to take admittance into the Paramedical courses are suggested to go through the Examination details mentioned below and apply within the due date of 18th June, 2014.
All keen candidates who wish to appear for this Entrance Exam are liable to make a payment of INR.1000/-, whereas INR.800/- in case of ST and SC applicants. This fee is to be remitted through State Bank of India Challan in favor of “Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh (Examination)” in the Power Jyoti Account No.32211613319. However, candidates who have an SBI account may pay their fee through i-collect service of SBI.
17th August, 2014 (10 am): Date of Entrance Examination.
18th August, 2014 (9 am): Announcement of Results.
21st August, 2014 (11 am): First Counseling.
20th September, 2014 (11 am): Second Counseling.
The admission of all aspirants will be made through their attainment in this Entrance Test, carrying 100 marks. Selections will be made entirely on merit base on All India Basis. A separate merit list will be prepared for each category Reserved, Unreserved and foreign applicants. Attaining a minimum of 50% scores in this exam is obligatory for all general applicants for being eligible for the selection. Nevertheless the same for SC, ST and OBC applicants will remain 45%.
The entrance exam will be in written format and there will be negative marking for every wrong answer to the tune of 0.25 marks in theory paper for all courses. The medium for entrance examination and instruction will be English. The duration of this entrance examination will be 1.5 hours for each course. For candidates belonging to Science Group, the theory paper will be divided into 5 basic parts, namely- Chemistry, Physics, Maths/ Biology, General English and General Knowledge. In case of candidates belonging to Vocational Stream Chemistry, Physics, Maths/ Biology will be replaced with Anatomy & Physiology, Biology & Chemistry and Lab Techniques. For B.Sc. (Medical Technology) candidates the subjects will be, Anatomy & Physiology, General Physics & Radiation Physics and X-Ray Techniques. The first 3 major subjects will be of 25 marks each, whereas General English and General Knowledge / Current Affairs will be of 15 and 10 marks, respectively.
