The Manipur University has been established on 5th June 1980 by the passing of Manipur University Act 1980 in the state of Manipur. The university was declared as the central university on 13th October 2005 for providing education in different courses offered by the university. The university is a residential cum affiliated one with about 76 colleges affiliated and one constituent college under its jurisdiction.
