The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Department of Paper Technology provides admissions to all the eligible applicants in the different courses available in the field of Pulp Paper and Technology respectively. The Department of Paper Technology has been established in the year 1964 by the Government of India to provide for the different academic programmes in the following main disciplines: Pulp and Paper Technology, Polymer Science and Technology, Process Engineering and Management respectively. Admission Details for IIT Department of Paper Technology-

The Department of Paper Technology Saharanpur announces admission every year in different under graduate and post graduate courses every year through the IIT- JEE Exam. The candidates should appear and qualify in the Joint Engineering Entrance Examinations to avail admissions in the university courses.

Courses of Admission:

1. Under Graduate Courses

The Department of Paper Technology provides admission in the four year under graduate course of B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) Pulp and Paper Engineering. The applicants in order to avail admissions in the concerned course of the institute should have appeared and qualified in the JEE Main /Advance exams as conducted for this purpose.

Eligibility for Admissions:

The applicants should be Intermediate/ Class 12th passed from the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry respectively from any central / state boards as recognized for this purpose.

Available Electives:

1. Engineering Computation; Process Simulation; Design of Experiments

2. Secondary Fiber Processing; Paper Making Chemistry; Processes Integration in Paper Industry

3. Air Pollution Abatement; System Closure in Paper Industry; Modeling of Pulp and Paper-Making Processes; Applications of Biotechnology in Paper Industry

4. Pulp Mill Calculations; Paper Mill Calculations; Recovery Process Calculations

2. Post Graduate Courses

The Department of Paper Technology provides admission in the Master of Technology courses in the following main disciplines through an entrance exam as well as campus interview conducted by the institute for this purpose.

Available Disciplines:

Pulp and Paper; Chemical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and other allied disciplines

The written test conducted for the M.Tech. Course Admission shall consist of objective type questions on the following main topics:

Mathematics (20% marks)

Chemistry (16% marks)

Thermodynamics (16% marks)

Fluid Mechanics (16% marks)

Material and Energy Balance (16% marks)

Environmental Engineering (16% marks)

Duration of Exam: 90 Minutes

The candidates qualifying in the entrance exam will be called for the interview scheduled to be held by the institute for all the short listed applicants.
