HPCL Paper Pattern 2014 Details of Examination and Eligibility

The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) conducts the common entrance exam for the recruitment of all the eligible candidates in the post of Officer Trainees. Exam Pattern:

The recruitment exam for the selection of Officers Trainee consists of the following main tests: General Aptitude and Professional Technical Aptitude respectively. The exam is conducted in objective modes having multiple choice based questions on the following:

Section I: General Aptitude (120 Questions)

Section II: Professional Technical Aptitude (40 Questions)

Duration of Exam: 2 Hours

Syllabus of General Aptitude:

Synonyms & Antonyms, Grammar Based Questions, Reading Comprehension (40 Questions)

LR (Logical Reasoning) and DI (Data Interpretation)

Quantitative Aptitude- Ratios, Percentages, Permutations & Combinations, Ages and Series (40 Questions)

Intellectual Ability based questions (40 Questions)

Syllabus for Professional Knowledge Section:

Petroleum Composition and process, Chemical Technology, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Process Instrumentation etc.

Qualifying Criteria:

The candidates must score the minimum cut off marks as required for this purpose and clear the written exam. The candidates who qualify in the written exam shall be called for the final and the next round of exam i.e. Personal Interview scheduled to be held subsequently after the written exam for all the written qualified candidates only.

The candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks in the interview as well so that they are finally selected for the concerned post.
