CAT Examination Syllabus:

Quantitative Ability Paper

Geometry, (angles, Lines, Cone, Triangles, Rectangles, Spheres, Cube); Quadratic and linear equations; Ratios and Proportion, Ratios, Percentages, In-equations; Algebra; Averages, Percentages, Partnership; Profit & Loss; Time-Speed-Distance, Work and time; Number system: LCM, HCF, Geometric Progression, Arithmetic mean, Arithmetic progression, Geometric mean, Median, Harmonic mean, Mode, BODMAS, Number Base System; Simple Interest & Compound Interest; Mensuration, Work, Alligation & Mixtures, Pipes and Cisterns; Venn Diagram, Set Theory; Permutations & Combinations, Probability; Partnership, Instalment Payments, Clocks

English Syllabus:-

Verbal Reasoning, Comprehension of passage, Syllogisms , Analogies, Contextual usage, Antonyms, Jumbled paragraphs with 4 or 5 sentences, Fill In the Blanks, Foreign language words used in English, Sentence correction, Sentence completion, odd man out, one word substitution, idioms, Different usage of same word, mania & phobia, Errors in word choice, Incorrect words, Conditionals & Multiple Usage, Mood, Punctuation, Phrasal verb Proverb, etc.

Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning:

Text based Data Interpretation, graphs and tables based Data Interpretation; Visual reasoning, Critical reasoning, Assumption-Premise-Conclusion, Statements and assumptions, Assertion and reasons, identifying valid inferences , Statements and conclusions, identifying Strong arguments and Weak arguments, Cause and Effect, Probably false, Identifying Probably true, definitely true, Linear arrangements, definitely false kind of statement, Matrix arrangements; Graphs can be as Bar Graphs, Column graphs, Line charts, Graphs representing Area, Pie Chart, Venn Diagram and etc; Syllogisms, Puzzles, Functions, Symbol Based problems, Family tree – identifying relationship among group of people, Coding and decoding, identifying next number in series, Sequencing, and etc

General Knowledge/ Business Awareness/ General Awareness:

Marks Pattern:

Total – 100 Marks

Section- I – Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation—- 50 Marks

Section- II – Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning—– 50 Marks

Pivotal Dates to Remember:

Registrations: 06/08/2014 – 30/09/2014

Availability of Admit Card: 16/10/2014

Examination Date: 16/11/2014 & 22/11/2014

Results Declaration: December- 3rd Week, 2014

Process of Applying:

All the eligible and eager candidates can apply through the official website, following the steps as instructed there on the page. Candidates who fit appropriately in the eligibility criteria of the exam should apply. After paying the required amount of fee and filling the details as asked, candidates will get registered for the CAT examination.
