Black Friday is Live Now! And many stores are opening their shops for early-bird shoppers, some as early as 5 a.m.

Of course, with retailers dropping early Black Friday sales like crazy and rushing to announce they’ll be closed on Thanksgiving for a third year in a row, it may feel like Black Friday has already been here for months.

In fact, Black Fri “DAY” as a concept has seen a lot of shake-ups in recent years. Even before the pandemic, retailers were releasing their Black Friday deals online days early, leaving in-store Black Friday events looking like almost an afterthought. And 2020 was an even bigger disruption. Due to the pandemic, retailers reduced the in-store fanfare, nixed early Thanksgiving opening times and threw much more sedate in-store events on Black Friday with limited deals, capacity controls and copious amounts of hand sanitizer.
